Our faculty in the Carlos Alvarez College of Business are integral to the success of UTSA students and help to “transform our students from curious and hopeful learners into confident and career-ready young professionals.”
Annually, the college and UTSA recognize the outstanding contributions of our faculty. Awards may include a monetary stipend and recognition from your peers and the greater academic community. The college’s Faculty Forum/Graduate Faculty Forum Executive Committee (Executive Committee) reviews all award nominations. Selections are made in coordination with the Dean, who will announce college faculty award recipients at an annual award ceremony.
Faculty award recipients are also be put forward as the college nominees for any related UTSA faculty awards. If selected for a UTSA award, you may require additional letters of support.

Purpose of Awards
These awards are to recognize, encourage and reward accomplished faculty whose command of their respective disciplines, teaching methodologies, communication skills and commitment to learning translate into a superior learning experience for students. These awards are aimed at faculty who maintain high expectations and standards for their students, ensuring academic rigor, while meeting the challenges of motivating students and helping them develop into educated, ethical and responsible citizens.

Purpose of Awards
Tenured: This award is to recognize, encourage and reward faculty who have conducted a sustained program of high-quality, high-impact research that has translated into national and international recognition and has made a substantial contribution to the faculty member’s field.
Tenure-Track: This award is to recognize, encourage and reward faculty who have conducted high-quality, high-impact research that shows distinct promise for national and international recognition and substantial contribution to the faculty member’s field.
- Patrick J. Clynes Excellence in Service Endowed Faculty Award (tenured, tenure-track and fixed-term-track faculty)
Purpose of Award
This award is to recognize, encourage and reward those tenured/tenured-tracked and full-time fixed-term-track faculty who are exemplary in their commitment to service within the university whose service has had major impact on the opportunities, lives and future of UTSA students by providing leadership in critical areas such as advising students; student, department, college and university committee service; and/or creating new student programs and opportunities.

Purpose of Award
This award honors a faculty member for their accomplishments in teaching, research and service. The award was established to commemorate the founding year of the university.
