What is an Executive MBA (EMBA)?

The Executive MBA (EMBA) is a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree program. If you are an executive professional, or a rising leader with strong managerial experience, the EMBA program is designed for you. Our rigorous and comprehensive five-semester program starts annually in August and features classes on designated Saturdays. Your learning will focus on advancing the skills and knowledge you need to solve the evolving challenges in today’s fast-paced economy.

The UTSA EMBA program is taught as a cohort, meaning you start and finish the program with the same participant group.

Do I Qualify for the EMBA?

You do not need a c-suite title to participate in the EMBA program. Our successful applicants demonstrate a strong work ethic, have eight or more years of professional experience and have demonstrated increasing responsibility in their roles. If you are an aspiring professional looking to become an inspiring leader, or a current leader looking to build your business knowledge, the EMBA program may be a great fit for you.

What Does the Program Cost?

An EMBA program is an important investment for you and your future. The program cost is $68,380 for Texas residents and $83,634 for non-residents. As you may fund the program through a combination of sources including personal funds and corporate reimbursements, we encourage you to learn more about available financing options. Federal student loans are available, and the program also qualifies for the Post 9/11 GI Bill and the Hazlewood Exemption.

EMBA Program Tracks

General Management Track

The EMBA general management track weaves quantitative, analytical and managerial learning threads throughout the program. In your second, fourth and fifth semesters, we include an integrative team-based project to engage you in application-driven projects that will reinforce your classroom learning.

In addition to our learning threads and integrative projects, we incorporate executive coaching into your EMBA experience. This coaching opportunity will help you define your career vision and help you create a plan to make your vision a reality. During the break between your fourth and fifth semester, you will take an eight- to 10-day international trip. The trip provides a unique perspective on the global marketplace that both informs and complements your coursework.

A True Learning Community
  • The EMBA program at UTSA has been a tremendous experience. As a healthcare provider and administrator, I fully appreciated the direct interactions with classmates from other industries. The discussions and perspectives of those exchanges was an invaluable supplementation to the foundational building blocks designed within the curriculum. While the commitment cannot be disregarded the return has been greatly appreciated. I would recommend this program to any leader seeking success within their current and future administrative roles.

  • As I looked into the curriculum, I was really excited about how the whole thing pieced together. Early in the program I had a jolting shift in my professional life. My executive coach sat down with me, answered a lot of my questions and helped me create a better work environment and better balance – things that I didn’t know were possible.
