While participating in an international immersion you will visit local businesses, attend academic lectures and explore the cultural locations of the host country.
International Immersions
Immersion programs take place every summer and locations vary. These programs last 10 – 12 days, are connected to a 3-credit hour GBA elective academic course and a portion of the costs are covered by the college.
European Innovation Academy
A special immersion, the European Innovation Academy (EIA), is a 3-week accelerated learning opportunity that brings students from all disciplines and backgrounds together from all over the world. Join a team to develop a startup and be mentored by academic thought leaders and companies such as Google, Uber, and Amazon. With students, mentors, speakers and faculty representing countries and universities from around the globe, participants will build their international network while adding valuable international skills and experience. Follow the application process below to participate.
1. Complete the Immersion Application
The immersion application will be open from October 1-22, 2023.
Select your program of interest and complete the application requirements by the deadline. All applicants must meet the requirements.
2. Interview
Given the competitive nature of the program, interviews will be conducted with top program applicants.
3. Confirm Participation and Make Your Deposit
Once you are accepted into the program, you will receive an email with instructions on how to commit to the program. After confirming your participation, you must complete additional required documentation including making your deposit to secure your spot.
4. Attend a Pre-departure Orientation and Class Meeting
Prior to the trip you must participate in a pre-departure orientation as well as mandatory class meetings that may occur prior to the start of the summer term. Students are automatically enrolled in the corresponding GBA elective course.
5. Returning to UTSA

To participate in an Alvarez College of Business Immersion, you must meet the following criteria:

Academic Credit
Immersions are connected to a UTSA 3-credit hour GBA elective course. Contact your advisor to check how this elective course fits within your degree plan.
Health Insurance
As part of your study abroad experience, you will be automatically enrolled under the UTSA international travel accident and sickness insurance. Student International Travel Accident and Sickness Policy is through On Call International, insured by HDI Specialty. Passports and Visas
All students participating in an international immersion are required to have a valid passport. It is recommended that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond the intended period of stay. Information is provided if a location requires a visa.
